Spartan Survival was established to provide authentic bushcraft and survival training courses and live on the ground experiences to families, schools and businesses and is for people who want to push themselves and experience something challenging, new and fun.

Founded by ex and current serving British Elite Military personnel trained to survive under pressure in the most hostile and austere environments in the world we have designed courses to educate, improve confidence, improve mental strength whilst enjoying your surroundings with friends, family or work colleagues.

Ian Huntington

Managing Director and Chief Instructor

Founder of Spartan Risk and Co-Founder of Spartan Survival. Ex British Army, Ian has spent the last 20 years as a Private Military Contractor and Bodyguard in some of the most dangerous warzones and hostile environments in the world. A Survival Instructor, Personal Weapons Instructor and Trauma Medic.

Ian ‘Mac’ Mckie


Serving British Military, Applied Sports Physiologist and strength and conditioning Coach Mac brings a different dimension to our courses in many ways. Before joining the British Army Mac spent ten years in the countryside as a Gamekeeper. A bushcraft survival instructor with a wealth of knowledge who really enjoys team building courses.

Serving British Military, a PTI in one of the toughest regiments in the world, a strength and conditioning coach and an experienced bushcraft survival instructor in military techniques.

Phil Greening

Spartan Ambassador

Former England and British and Irish Lions Rugby Union Hooker. Phil’s club career included Gloucester, Sale and Wasps which took him to premiership titles. 7’s coach for Scotland and currently USA Phil is also the Founder and owner of The Athletes Factory in Chester. Spartan are proud to be associated with Phil and for Phil to be promoting the Spartan Survival brand.

Roy Shelton


Roy is an MBA Graduate, and an award winning senior executive with a 20-year track record of consistent over achievement underpinned with excellent academic qualifications. Roy is supporting the strategic growth of Spartan Survival and its corporate Spartan Survival Elite Network.

Graham Tweed


Successful ocean yacht racing and rugby career both playing and coaching at Saracens, eastern countries, Norfolk, Argentine and in the USA.

Helped Saracens step up to professional static, worked with ombac. In the USA and Dallas currently working with Thetford in a rebuild of both club and playing personal and consultancy with two other clubs playing national league Rudy. Achieved third in the 40-45 age bracket at 6.23 over 2000 meters. 

Also worked with the Orangutan foundation in Borneo, Dick White centre in Newmarket with Race Horse nutrition and worked filming with the National Geographic from the Blue Planet series. 

Just entered the world of wildlife photography with Nikon as a challenger capturing some of the rarest wildlife on the planet and leading expeditions throughout India, Asia and South America.
